Therapies
Relief from back and neck pain, headaches and migraine, arthritis hip, knee and joint pain, pelvic girdle and back pain in pregnancy.
Our chiropractor’s mission is to not only treat people with joint, muscle and nerve pain, but to try and find the root causes of it, to prevent the pain from coming back. With longer than average appointment times, we want to take our time to find the cause of your problem and create the best treatment plan for YOU. We strive to get patients out of pain and back to the hobbies, sports and lifestyle they love.
Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession that uses a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including hands-on manipulation of the spine. As well as manual treatment, chiropractors are able to offer a package of care which includes advice on self-help, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle changes.
Chiropractic treatment involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including soft tissue work and offer home advice on exercise, posture and lifestyle changes.
What conditions do chiropractors treat?
Chiropractic care can help in the treatment of back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, knee and hip pain and pelvic girdle and back pain in pregnancy.
Struggling with back pain?
If you’ve woken up with back pain, or have been struggling with an annoying ache for some time, you may be wondering how this has happened and what you can do to help it.
If it helps, you are not alone.
Back pain is common with 77% of people questioned in a British Chiropractic Association survey saying that they had suffered with it in the past
But why is this?
Unless you have lifted something very heavy or been in an accident, back pain is often a result of inactivity or too much time spent sitting.
More of us spend more time sitting and less time being active every day. Often, we sit in the car or on the bus on the way to work. Sit all day at work and then sit in front of the T.V. at home.
All this time spent sitting causes extra pressure on the muscles and joints of the spine. This causes them to tighten up. Making them more likely to be injured.
Is it sciatica?
Sciatica is a pain in the leg caused by a problem with the disc or nerves in your low back. Quite often people with disc or sciatic problems will have very bad leg pain but little to no back pain at all.
Chiropractic care can help treat sciatica and disc problems.
What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care involves adjustments to the spine and joints of the body as well as soft tissue therapy to the surrounding muscles.
Bothered by a pain in the neck?
With increased time in front of screens, at work or at home, our necks are under pressure.
The hunched posture often adopted as we look at computer screens, laptops, tablets and smartphones puts a lot of pressure on the joints and muscles of the neck – which in turn leads to pain.
This form of neck pain is often termed ‘mechanical neck pain’. Chiropractors can help to treat this by improving the movement and function of the joints and muscles in the neck.
In combination with rehabilitative exercises and postural advice we can help to get rid of your neck pain.
Have any questions?
We offer a free 20 minute Chiro Chat appointment. This is a no on obligation appointment. You can talk to Rosie or Joe about your problem and ask any questions you have about chiropractic care. From there you can then book a new patient appointment for a complete assessment of your problem.

Chiropractic care for headaches and Migraines
Headaches are very common. The vast majority are not dangerous although they are often painful and disruptive to daily life.
Headaches can affect every part of your life whether it is your ability to concentrate at work, take part in your hobbies or how you get on with your family and friends. If you live with headaches regularly your idea of ‘normal’ can become skewed. It may be common but it is not normal to have headaches daily or several times a week and if you do then you should seek advice.
Chiropractors can help with headaches that are caused by a problem with the joints and muscles in the neck. This type of headache is known as a cervicogenic headache. If there is a problem with the way joints or muscles of your neck are moving, a chiropractor can improve the function of these joints which may help your headaches to improve.
Migraines are a form of headache. They tend to be very painful and are often associated with sensitivity to light, smells and sounds. People can feel nauseous and sick with them and often have to take to bed in a darkened room until they pass. Some people will know that they have particular triggers such as foods or drinks that will cause a migraine, other causes can be hormonal.
About 25% of migraines sufferers will have an aura before the migraine starts. This is often zig zags in front of the eyes or a sensitivity to light but can also be numbness, confusion and dizziness. Chiropractic treatment aims to restore normal movement to the muscles and joints of the spine. This can help in the prevention of migraine.
What happens on my first visit to a Chiropractor?
During your first visit we:
- Take a full history of your problem and your medical history
- Give you a thorough physical examination, assessing the movement in the injured area and other parts of your spine as necessary
- Explain your problem, how we can help and how long it is likely for you to take to get better
We don’t like to rush so we allow an hour for our new patient consultation. To give us plenty of time to find out what is going on and how we can help you.
Could my feet be the problem?
Often the plantar fascia can be irritated and injured by faulty foot mechanics. This means that the fascia on the sole of your foot has to work harder than normal to absorb and control the forces of walking and running.
At Total Chiropractic we have cutting edge technology to analysis and assess how welll your feet work and can show if your feet are the root cause of the problem.
