UK National Autism Assessment Service - Wait Time Currently 7-10 Days

At Total Health West Berkshire, we provide thorough and compassionate adult autism assessments for individuals who may be wondering whether autism explains lifelong challenges, behaviours, or differences. If you have struggled with work, relationships, or sensory experiences, a private assessment can bring clarity, validation, and access to the right support.

“Autism diagnoses in England have surged in recent decades, pushing NHS services to their limits.”

Why Seek an Autism Assessment as an Adult?

Many adults come to us after years of feeling “different” or misunderstood. You may have learned to mask or cope, but still find that life feels more demanding than it seems for others. A private autism assessment can:
  • Provide clarity about lifelong challenges.
  • Improve self-understanding and self-compassion.
  • Open access to workplace accommodations and legal protections (Equality Act 2010).
  • Support healthier relationships and communication.
  • Offer guidance on treatment, therapy, or community resources.

Signs of Autism in Adults

While autism looks different for everyone, some common signs include:
  • Finding social interactions confusing, stressful, or exhausting.
  • Preferring routine, predictability, or solitude over spontaneity.
  • Having intense interests or “hyperfocus” in specific areas.
  • Sensitivity to light, sound, touch, or other sensory input.
  • Experiencing anxiety, burnout, or misdiagnosed mental health conditions.
  • Feeling the need to “mask” or copy others to fit in.
