Ellie Ewbank (She/Hers)
Mental Health Practitioner
Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapist
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT Therapist) and a registered member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I also hold graduate membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH). My training includes a BSc. In Psychology and MSc. In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I have experience working with mental health primarily in the private healthcare sector, and also supporting NHS IAPT (‘talking therapies’) services nationally. I work flexibly, offering either face-to- face or remote telehealth sessions.
I have a passion for person-centered care and believe that therapy can be more helpful when it is tailored to the individual, rather than a particular difficulty. I take an integrative approach, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Skills where appropriate for a particular client. I have received advanced training in CBT for insomnia, and motivational interviewing. These techniques compliment my work across a range of mental health difficulties.
I enjoy working with children and adolescents (age 11+) and adults. I am experienced in working with a wide variety of clients and presenting difficulties, not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, low self-esteem, self-harm, emotion dysregulation, and adjustment difficulties.
I have an ongoing interest in helping clients that live with long-term conditions (including pain and more complex medical needs), and a personal connection to this work. I understand the unique psychological burden that diagnoses or persistent physical symptoms can carry, in addition to the practical and emotional challenges that they can bring to the individual and wider family context. I help clients to take meaningful steps towards their values in the presence of difficult thoughts and feelings, and to increase their psychological flexibility during a time of adaptation.
I have experience working with clients with Neurological conditions, having worked closely with Headway groups both as a clinician and Trustee in the past. I am keeping this clinical interest alive through my work on an innovative, collaborative project called ‘Inspire Others’ with colleagues in the field.
Helping people overcome mental health challenges is something that I really value, and I feel very privileged to share in a clients’ journey at what is often a vulnerable time in their lives. I encourage and enable clients to facilitate the necessary changes in their life to achieve their personal goals.

Therapeutic Counsellor
Taking the first step to seek help is not always easy. You may be struggling with anxiety, family/relationship issues or be experiencing sad or depressed feelings and thoughts.
I strive to offer confidential, non judgemental counselling where you can be heard and understood. Talking about and exploring your emotions and feelings will help you come to your own conclusions and empower you to take your next steps in life.
I am BACP Registered Counsellor and work with a Humanistic and Integrative approach. I have experience of offering counselling to both adults and young people.
I have worked with clients who have had a range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, issues in relation to gender and sexuality alongside clients who have experienced trauma and experienced loss.
I also have a wealth of experience and understanding of working with young people with a diverse range of issues; including bullying; school/college issues; confidence building; difficulties coping with relationships.
I have a passion for working with people which aims to help my clients to process and understand their feelings. I believe that enabling a client to voice their difficulties and work through any issues that arise from these in a confidential and non-judgement relationship with a counsellor enables them to heal and move forward in their lives.
I offer a warm and down to earth approach which is supportive and within a safe space for short or long term therapeutic counselling.
The first counselling session together is an opportunity to talk about the issues you bring to counselling and what you would like to work on. This is an opportunity for you, to find out more about the way I work and together we can decide if we are the right “fit”.
There is a little paperwork to do in this first session, as I take some basic details from you and ask you a few questions about your general health, mental health and wellbeing.
There is no obligation to continue after this first session if you feel I am not the right person for you to work with.
I can help with Abuse, ADD / ADHD, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Cancer, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Redundancy, Relationships, Self-esteem, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Women’s issues, Work related issues.
John Dyson (He/Him)
Mental Health Practitioner
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor Young Adults 16+
In my Newbury practice I offer face to face counselling for Adults (16+), focusing on those suffering with their mental health with feelings of anxiety, depression, anger; lacking self-esteem, experiencing relationship or identity issues; including self-harm or addictive behaviour.
I work with my clients to look at and modify the cycles of thoughts, feelings and behaviours which are causing difficulties, both in the present and from experiences in the past. My aim is to help address both short-term issues while working to build psychological understanding, strength and resilience.
This comes from developing self-worth and self-acceptance, helping with coping strategies while looking to develop autonomy.
The usual starting point would be 6 weekly sessions, although this varies from client to client.
My fees are £55 per session. I have some appointments at a reduced rate for those families on low earnings.
Please contact me in the first instance by email. I offer free telephone consultations

I am a chartered and registered Psychologist with over 15 years experience in providing evidence-based therapeutic services, including CBT and EMDR, to children, adolescents and adults experiencing life problems and psychological difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, low self-esteem, anger, sexualised and sexually harmful behaviours and other emotional and behavioural difficulties. I believe that everyone has the ability to take charge of their own recovery, and therefore I work collaboratively with each client to give them the tools needed to lead healthier and happier lives.
I have a particular interest in working with children and young people, including those in care and those with multiple and complex needs. I use a child-centered approach individualised to their specific needs. This might include the use of creative approaches, CBT, REBT, behaviour focused interventions, EMDR, psychoeducation, DDP informed practice and mindfulness. I recognise that without an experienced sense of safety and connection, changing mental health is unlikely and I therefore strive to work with the child or young person to find an approach that works for them.
I also undertake supervision of other professionals such as residential staff, YOS Workers, foster carers and trainee forensic psychologists.
