Book a free 15-minute suitability call
A simple first step to help you feel clear before committing to anything.
During the call, we can:
- talk through what you’ve been noticing

- discuss whether ADHD or a combined assessment should also be considered
- answer any questions about the process, cost, and next steps
There is no obligation to book an assessment after this call.
“Autism diagnoses in England have surged in recent decades, pushing NHS services to their limits.”
When should you consider an autism assessment for your child?
You don’t need to be certain.
Many parents worry they might be overthinking things – but if something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth understanding why.
You might recognise some of the following:
- Difficulty with social interaction or making friends
- Delayed or different communication or language development
- Strong preference for routines or distress with change
- Sensory sensitivities (noise, light, textures)
- Repetitive behaviours or focused interests
- Becoming overwhelmed in busy or unpredictable environments
Sometimes these behaviours are misunderstood or explained in different ways.
An assessment can help you understand whether there’s an underlying reason – and what support would actually help your child.
Not sure if it’s autism, ADHD, or both?
You don’t need to work that out on your own.
Many children show overlapping traits, and it’s common to feel unsure which assessment is the right place to begin.
During your suitability call, we can:
- talk through what you’re seeing
- help you understand whether autism, ADHD, or both should be considered
- recommend the most appropriate next step
Where appropriate, we can offer a combined assessment approach, so you don’t need to worry about choosing the wrong pathway.
Our goal is to help you get clear, without unnecessary steps or confusion.
What an autism diagnosis can help with
It’s not about putting a label on your child – it’s about understanding them properly.
It can help you:
- Understand your child’s needs more clearly
- Support your child at home and in school
- Improve communication and reduce misunderstandings
- Access appropriate support and resources
- Feel more confident in how you support your child day to day
For many families, the biggest shift is moving from uncertainty → understanding.
What to Expect From a Private Child Autism Assessment
We take a calm, child-friendly approach, working at your child’s pace so they feel comfortable and supported throughout.
Our assessments are calm, thorough, and child-centred. The process typically includes:
1. Pre-assessment Forms
Questionnaires and background information, including developmental history and input from school where possible.
2. Clinical Assessment
Structured observations and interviews using recognised tools such as ADOS and ADI-R.
3. Feedback and Report
A clear written report and a feedback session explaining the outcome and next steps.
School support often follows diagnosis. See GOV.UK: Education, Health and Care plans (EHCP) for how support can be organised.
What happens if autism is identified?
If autism is identified, we will guide you through your options.
This may include:
- practical strategies for home and school
- support for conversations with teachers or SEN teams
- understanding sensory needs and behaviour
- guidance on next steps or additional support
What if my child doesn’t receive a diagnosis?
This is a common concern.
Not every assessment results in an autism diagnosis. If criteria are not met, we will still:
- explain what we have found
- help you understand your child’s needs
- suggest practical next steps or alternative support where appropriate
