Holter Monitor ECG

Understand what your heart is doing - over time

If you’ve been experiencing symptoms that come and go – like palpitations, dizziness or an irregular heartbeat – a standard ECG doesn’t always capture what’s happening.

A Holter ECG records your heart rhythm continuously over 24-48 hours (or longer), giving a much clearer picture of what’s going on.

When might this be useful?

You might benefit from a Holter ECG if you have:

  • palpitations, dizziness or fainting
  • a known heart condition
  • recently started new heart medication
  • had a recent cardiac event or procedure

.

Holter Monitor ECG

A Holter monitor ECG or an ambulatory ECG heart monitor as it is also known, is a wearable device that continuously records the electrical activity of the heart. This means that your heart’s activity can be monitored continuously rather than over a short period of time such as is the case in a normal ECG.

Ambulatory ECG heart monitors are useful for diagnosing symptoms that are not constant, such as palpitations or chest pain. It is often used to test for arrhythmia. It’s safe and completely painless.
