Private Blood Testing in West Berkshire

Understand what’s going on in your body – not just your symptoms

If something doesn’t feel right, a blood test can help you understand why – and what to do next.

Whether you’re feeling tired, struggling with weight, noticing hormonal changes, or just want a general check-up, blood tests can help identify what’s happening beneath the surface.

Many people have tests done but are left with numbers they don’t fully understand.

At Total Health, your results are reviewed by a GP and explained clearly, so you know what they mean and what to do next.

Blood tests from £131

  • A blood test tailored to your needs
  • Fast results (usually within 24-48 hours)

When might a blood test be helpful?

People choose to have blood tests for lots of different reasons. Some of the most common include:

  • Feeling tired, run down, or low in energy
  • Unexplained weight gain or difficulty losing weight
  • Hormonal changes (e.g. menopause, low testosterone)
  • Ongoing symptoms without a clear explanation
  • Checking cholesterol, blood sugar, or general health markers
  • Monitoring an existing condition
  • Wanting reassurance that everything is normal

Sometimes it’s not about a specific symptom – just a feeling that something isn’t quite right.

A blood test can help you understand what’s going on and decide what to do next.

If you’re unsure what’s worth testing, starting with a GP appointment can help you choose the right tests and avoid unnecessary ones.

Frequently Asked Questions About Blood Tests

What is the cost of having a blood test?

It all depends on the test that you order.
Each test is individually priced.

If you order through Medichecks or Goodbody then the price of the tests are available on their website.

Do I have to pay for the blood draw by the phlebotomist separately from the blood test?

All of the tests on our website include the cost of the blood draw in the test.

Medichecks and Goodbody give you the option to pay for the blood draw in the cost of the test when you order them.

Blood tests ordered by our GP have the price of the blood draw included in them.

Other companies supply you with the kits only and then you will pay our blood draw charge.
If you have any questions about this then do give us a call on  01635 791 301

If I have a blood testing kit from a different company how much does it cost to have blood taken by the phlebotomist?

The cost of a blood draw is £35.

What is the difference between having blood tests through a home testing kit or taken by a professional.

A home test kit uses capillary blood. Whilst it is convenient there are a couple of downsides.
Firstly it can be difficult to get enough blood from a finger prick test so people tend to squeeze their finger  – this can damage the red blood cells and cause the result to be less accurate.

Even if you get enough blood the blood that comes from a finger prick test is capillary blood. Which has a slightly different composition to the blood that comes from a venous sample that a phlebotomist would take.  This can lead to inaccurate readings compared to venous blood.

Venous blood taken by a trained professional is the gold standard for blood testing.  This is because it gives much more accurate results and if you want to have an insight into something as important as your health we believe that you should have the most accurate result possible.
